Apartment Life Can Be Similar to Life Out of A Backpack

Going on a vacation can have some nice results on daily life. One is away from some of the distractions that might typically take too much of their attention while at home. In addition, some of the material distractions are not an issue because one is restricted to living out of a suitcase. Something to keep in mind is that these benefits don’t necessarily have to disappear after the vacation ends. These lessons can be carried back home.
First of all, many of the distractions that disappear when on vacation and the physical/material distractions are actually very much related. There’s something refreshing about the lack of belongings. It might even feel like some weight has been lifted off your shoulders. However, when we return home we’re back in a space that can contain most of the things we decide to collect. By keeping the nice peace of mind that comes with life out of a small suitcase (as discussed at smallsuitcase.net), it is a little easier to cut back on the unnecessary shopping (and as a result some of the unnecessary spending).
In addition to slowing down the purchasing after returning home, a great way to make some extra money while reducing the build up of possessions is to sell things you don’t need on eBay. It is surprising how much money we all have sitting around our home. You might not realize it when you look at each thing separately, but it’s the net benefit of selling everything that really adds up. A similar effect will probably be noticed on your state of mind – removing on thing doesn’t seem to make much of a difference, but the net result of reducing all of things you don’t need is very noticeable. So after you get back from your next trip and empty out your small leather suitcase, remember that all of the benefits don’t have to stop there.
