Ant Control Home Remedies

Ant control home remedies can be used to safely rid your home and your yard of these little pests. Ants can be quite annoying and are unwelcome house guests when they move into your home. While many people do not truly wish them harm, you have no other alternative but to get rid of them when they decide to invade your private space and start creating havoc.

Bay Leaves for Sugar Ants

When you see sugar ants starting to make trails into your home you can use several things from your kitchen itself to make them turn around and leave. Crush bay leaves like you use to season food up and sprinkle them on the spot where you saw or can still see, the trail of ants.  Ants do not like the smell of the bay leaves and will turn around and go away.

Black pepper is another of the effective method to get rid of ants and is used in the same manner that you used the bay leaves. Sprinkle their little trail into your home with black pepper to make them turn back.

For an aromatic deterrent to the little insects, try placing cinnamon sticks along their route. Humans love the aroma of cinnamon but the ants are not impressed by it, making cinnamon one of the more pleasant diy pest control remedies.

Garlic cloves that are freshly peeled will send these small creatures packing as well. The garlic is not that pleasant to smell and you must replace the cloves with fresh ones every few days until your infestation is gone.

Boiling Water

When you are in the yard and notice a mound where ants have their home, you can kill them with boiling water. You do not need to put anything into the water. Just put the water on your stove and bring it to a good rolling boil. Then take it outside and pour it on the mound or hill. This works well around walkways and stones bordering flower beds also.
