A Review Of The PowerShot G12

It’s entirely normal for companies to come out with improved product lineups every few years. They don’t really have much choice. Failure to update a product line could cause a company to go out of business as its competitors improve and capture more of the market. Canon, the maker of many fine cameras and accessories, is no different. The company just recently introduced a new model of its famous “G” series of cameras, the G12. It is loaded with features and easy to use but will consumers be okay with the $500 price tag? Maybe. Let’s take a quick look at this camera to see if its new features will be popular with photographers.
Although the Canon Powershot G12 looks almost identical to its previous model, the G11, the G12 has several new features that distinguish it from older models. One of these new features that many camera enthusiasts are excited about is the ability to attach a lens filter adapter to the camera’s standard lens. This lets enthusiasts capture exciting filtered images over the entire range of the lens.
The Canon Smart Auto feature is another amazing feature that G12 users get to experiment with. This feature is fully automated, so it’s very easy to use. Once turned on, the user simply points the camera at whatever he or she wants to take a picture of and the camera automatically adjusts its settings to deliver the best picture possible.
The ability to smooth out images taken of moving objects with the automatic image stabilizer is another quality feature of the G12. This image stabilizer is perfect for capturing great action shots of moving objects or even for smoothing out pictures taken from a moving vehicle. Without this feature many of these pictures would be rendered worthless.
The $500 retail price on the Canon G12 camera will not be an impediment to consumers purchasing this very capable camera. And because users won’t have to buy extra accessories for the camera, like Canon camera lenses, many will actually end up saving money over the years.
